2021: Changes And Challenges!

This year was the start of a new direction for me, previously the majority of my work had been covering drifting for EverythingDrift.com. Now I was no longer working for them and carving my own path within overall motorsports although I could rely on the same network of amazing clients that I had built up over the years!

UK Drift Championship

Lots had changed in the drift scene with the events that took place during COVID carving the way for Driftcup to become a rival championship at the top of UK drifting instead of a feeder series. I could continue working for the same amazing people but now it was known as the UK Drift Championship.

Britcar Endurance Championship

I started working with a couple of teams in the Britcar Endurance Championship, its an exciting series with cars ranging from GT3 to Clio Cup cars on track together. Drivers can range from the club level amateur drivers right up to paid professionals often seen in international races.

Donington Park Test Days

Donington Park is one of the closest circuits to my house so I made the effort to head over there as often as I could, usually during the week for their Unsilenced Test Days but also for a few of the championship test days like the British GT Championship or the TOCA support classes.

Teesside Autodrome

I began working for Teesside Autodrome capturing all of their events from karting, drifting, car testing and motorbike racing. It’s a very busy track, great fun to shoot and an amazing atmosphere around the paddock every event!

GT World Challenge

Who could pass up the opportunity to shoot the GT World Challenge on their only trip to the UK in 2021? Not me!

I can’t leave a set of photos from Brands Hatch without that iconic but all too often taken angle as the cars rise up to Druids from the bottom of Paddock Hill Bend. Atleast this one is a little different as the car had just taken a trip through the gravel trap!

DriftMatsuri

The first DriftMatsuri after a cancelled event during COVID, what an event to bring it back with some incredible Japanese cars, a few German saloons and a couple of cars that nobody would normally think of drifting. Two days of action, a night demo and a big party with chilled people around the paddock make this one of the best events every year, I’m proud to be the official photographer!

Other Events

I attended a few events, not for work but because I enjoy the challenges that come with shooting something different. This year it included a bit of F1 Stockcars, Motocross racing on the beach at Skegness and a rally at Cadwell Park.

What a wild ride that the first two years of pursuing my dream of being a full-time photographer and videographer had been!
